About Denise Sperry:
Denise Sperry is both a watercolor instructor and award-winning artist. She took her first watercolor class through an adult education course in 1997 and was encouraged by her teacher to pursue an art education. After raising a family, in 1999 she attended the Scottsdale Artists School. Denise teaches water media workshops in the United States and Canada. She also teaches local classes to enthusiastic adult students and artists. She received her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from the S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo, NY in 1974 and worked as a Crisis Counselor for several years. During the next 10 years, she participated in over 40 workshops taught by nationally and internationally renowned artists throughout the United States and Canada. Additionally, Denise worked with Martin F. Weber Co. and Mijello to develop a 9-color Mission Gold Watercolor set, specifically for the landscape painter. Denise is a member of numerous local, regional, and national artistic associations. These include the American Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and Northeast Watercolor Society. She has signature membership in the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Baltimore Watercolor Society, Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society, and Buffalo Society of Artists.
Denise Sperry’s work:
Denise’s paintings are beautiful, unique, and luminous. She is best known for her rich, vibrant colors and creative depiction of subject matter. Good design, originality, luminosity, and intensity of color are the hallmarks she strives to attain in her paintings. Each work is unique and is a representation of her creative development. Denise's watercolor paintings appear in private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Her work has been displayed in several local, regional, national, and international juried exhibitions. She has had gallery exhibitions and representation at Polo's in Baja, Mexico; Elevenzees in Chicago, IL; and Benjamin's in Buffalo, NY. Her artwork has also been published in a variety of magazines, newspaper articles, and art catalogs. She has received numerous awards, including several Best of Show.
