About Gail Bracegirdle:
“I choose to work in watercolor because I'm drawn to the infinite variations I can create with the simple elements of pigment and paper - and - the clean, environmentally sensitive nature of the medium. My goal is to share my experience of the subject - be it sensual, poignant, whimsical, puzzling or otherwise.”
Gail B. (as her work is signed) studied textile design at Moore College of Art and had a career in that industry until 1990. Wanting to explore new challenges, she began to dedicate all her time and energy to painting in watercolor. In 1993, she added teaching to her list of accomplishments and finds this to be a wonderfully enjoyable and rewarding experience. She currently lives and works in Bucks County, PA.
Gail has held summer workshops at the Ocean City Arts Center, as well as plein air workshops in Beaufort, SC and Chimay, NM. She is a faculty member of Artworks in Trenton and represented at several art galleries, including The Artists’ Gallery in Lambertville, NJ; Canal Frame-Crafts Gallery in Washington Crossing, PA; and Farnsworth Gallery in Bordentown, NJ.
Gail Bracegirdle’s work:
Gail Bracegirdle is a representational artist whose watercolors are filled with light and color. She prefers to work from life or from sketches made on location in order to observe and capture the effects of direct and reflected light and shadow on her subject.
Her artistic goal is to share the impression of an experience, a mood, or even an occasional visual pun through the language of transparent watercolor.
Her paintings are actively exhibited in juried, group and solos shows throughout the region; held in private collections in the United States, Europe and Australia; and have won various awards. Her work was featured in Artists Magazine, July 1999 issue, Give Your Art a New Wrinkle, and Splash 6, painting and text, October (publication-April 2000).
